During our 5 days and 4 nights stay in Bali, Indonesia we stayed in Grand Mega Resort & Spa located in Kuta. The hotel is the perfect place if you want to stay near to mostly everything. The location is definitely a quick and easy reach to many local points of interest of the guests.
Grand Mega Resort & Spa Bali is a 15-minute drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport. It is also a few minutes drive from Kuta Beach, Kuta Square, and Seminyak. The hotel itself is located along a busy road and across the Mal Bali Galeria shopping center where you can shop and dine.
When we arrived at the hotel, we went straight to the reception area because we only planned on dropping our luggage since it's still early for us to checked-in. I'm glad that the front desk clerk is very accommodating which give us a hassle-free drop off before we start our tour day. Their staff is very polite as well and we didn't encounter any problems at all during our whole stay in the hotel.
The hotel is really nice and as you can see, the pool area is really pretty and unique with that pool bar thing on the inside. Well, not until the moment I hop in and swim that I realized the design of the pools slope is really different. Sides are very shallow and as you get to the middle it's getting deeper and once you're in the middle there's also a huge shallow block in the middle sides where you can sit and relax. There's also some chairs deep in the water in the pool bar area if you want to drink in the counter.
I'm a bit anxious to swim to be honest because I can't really tell which sides are shallows and which are deep or if I'm about to bump into the sitting area in middle, it's just so confusing and scary. For me, the pool is not really safe for those people who just like to jump and swim, it's more like a pool area just for relaxation and chill. Well, aside from this outdoor pool, the hotel also offers a fitness center, sauna, and spa massage.
I actually forgot to take photos of the bedroom area but we stayed in a deluxe double bedroom. The room is airconditioned, has a flat screen TV in the bedroom and another one in front of the bathtub. The room includes free toiletries, coffees, water bottles and they have a hairdryer as well. They also have a balcony but don't expect a nice view if the room given to you is same as ours.
Anyway, here's a quick review for everyone's reference:
Pros:
- The hotel is very convenient. Shopping Mall is just across the place and the town proper is just a few minute drives.
- A mini-mart (Indomaret) is just right beside the hotel while there's a foreign hospital on the other side.
- Breakfast food is good - chicken bacon for the win!
- Bedroom and bathroom size is huge which is great and comfortable.
- I love that there is a TV in front of the bathtub.
- Housekeeping is just one call away. Always!
Cons:
- Their swimming pool is a bit scary to swim at.
- Rooms bathroom is a sliding bathroom door which means there is no bathroom lock.
- There is no sink table where I can put my toothbrush and necessities while I do my thing in the sink.
- There is only two socket available in the room. One is for universal plug and the other one is for circle compatible which we don't really use in the Philippines.
- The clock displayed on the bedside table is not working.
- It smells great but the fragrance they put on the towels are too much.
- Wifi is not stable.
- They have bed bugs! Yikes!
We booked our room on www.booking.com. It cost us Php7891 for 4 nights and 5 days or Php3945.50 each for 2 people. I might have some negative review in this hotel but I still recommend this place if you are looking for a place to stay before a flight or just want to stay in Kuta area.
The pool looked great but when you went on to describe it, I agree that it sounds scary! I can't swim that well and I'm short so.. that'll be a problem! lol.
